Greek Week: April 23-27 2012

The recognized Greek organizations on campus have decided on the dates for Greek Week & are putting together the plans for a fun filled week of activities.  Here is the tentative schedule of events & their brief descriptions:

Monday 4/23

The women of Lambda Chi are putting together one of the largest games of Hide & Seek on RIC's campus.

Tuesday 4/24
Dodgeball Tournament - Kappa Delta Phi
All RIC students are encouraged to put together a team and participate.  Contact with any questions.

Wednesday 4/25

DPhiE will have a variety of activities/games for members of the Greek Community during free period.

The Art of Stepping Workshop - 6pm-9pm the Student Union Ballroom
The Art of Stepping is an instructional class for not only Greeks but the college/university community to come and learn how to do basic step. Students will learn the importance of stepping for National African American organizations. Pictures as well as video will be taken for students to have for remembrance of the class and the steps they learned.  Jessica “Remo” Morales Raul is the instructor. She is a sister of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She is the founder of the OPSI step team and continued use stepping for a career. She has traveled nationally to bring this program to several colleges/universities.

Thursday 4/26
Mr. & Miss Greek - Zeta Xi Delta
Members of the recognized Greek organizations on campus will have select members compete in a variety of categories to be "Mr." or "Miss" Greek on campus.

Meet the Greeks -  6pm in the Student Union Ballroom
Meet the Greeks is such a vital part to many colleges/universities that thrive on Greek Life. This allows the community to learn more about Greek Life and the various organizations in the area. All the NALFO and NPHC organizations will be invited to the Rhode Island College campus. They will be provided with a table to decorate with paraphernalia. They will each be given 10 minutes to discuss their organization, step or stroll. The community present will have time to talk to each individual organization. This event is similar to RIC’s “Student Activities Day”, however a bit more private. This is usually done in the beginning of the semester; however the Greek Step Show “Artistic Confessions” is on April 28, 2012. Having the Meet the Greeks and a step workshop prior to the step show will help the community understand more about NALFO and NPHC Greeks.  Also, it will hopefully bring a positive prospective of Greek Life to the campus in relation to NALFO & NPHC Greeks.

Friday 4/27
STORGYs and Leadership Award Ceremonies

Saturday 4/28
JWU Step Show
