The week of September 12th-16th there were several events sponsored by the Greek Community Council. Tuesday the 13th, members of the Greek Community held a BBQ at Weber Beach outside of several residence halls. Thankfully, the weather was gorgeous and the turnout was even better. From 4pm-5:30pm, potential new members were able to come and meet the Greeks while snacking on hamburgers, hotdogs, and veggie burgers. Lots of potential new members showed up and seemed to really enjoy meeting our Greeks.
Wednesday the 14th, Campus Activities Day was held on the Quad and 55+ organizations came out to showcase what they have to offer. Each of our current 5 Greek organizations set up tables and handed out fliers to potential new members. In the evening, the GCC hosted an Info Night where representatives from each organization stood up to introduce their individual org. Potential new members were able to ask questions and visit each orgs' table for more recruitment info and to learn about what each organization stood for.
The week of September 19th-23rd, the sororities are hosting a variety of recruitment events throughout the evenings to get to know new members. Each org has a listing of those event dates and times. At the conclusion of the recruitment events, organizations will hand out their bids to individual members they are inviting to join. This is a very exciting time for active members as well as potential new members.
The men's organizations work through their own process and have their own individual events. Iota has a talent show scheduled for Thursday the 22nd in Sapinsley Hall. Kappa will host their own events and invite potential new members they have met.
This is a very exciting time and hopefully in a week the GCC will have new Greek members to add to their community (even though they are still "pledges", they are working their way towards full membership with each org). More to come after Recruitment week has ended.
